A bowl and coffee cup c1775-80. The diameter of the bowl is 4.1 inches (11.7 cm) and the height of the cup is 2.5 inches (6.3 cm). Delightfully painted with three Chinese figures. The figures have a "cartoon" quality. This design is probably copied from Meissen, rather than from a Chinese original. See MacKenna, figure 12. The bowl is marked X and the cup X7. |

Double ribbon pattern tureen stand, c1775-78. Width 7.9 inches (20.2 cm). It is painted with floral chains and a central spray, within a blue and purple double ribbon band, which is centred by gilt florets. It has a gilt dentil line on the four shallow lobes of the oval rim. There is also a gilt line around the foot-rim. Marked with an X. This piece was formerly in the Trapnell collection. The service is nunbers 170-181 in the collection, this piece being 171. It was later in the Fry family.
